Originally planned as a luxury hotel, Palacio Salvo instead became an unusual mixture of private apartments, offices, music studios, and radio stations. This Gothic-style palace from 1928 was initially topped with a lighthouse, later replaced with an antenna that raised the height of the building to 100 m (328 ft) and made it the tallest building in South America. Officially, tourists are not allowed inside the building unless they rent an apartment within the exclusive tower section on the 14th floor. Ask the concierge or one of the tenants to give you a brief tour of the interior.
