See one of the biggest outdoor collections of water lilies in the United States at McKee Botanical Garden, a subtropical garden filled with local and exotic plant species that was founded in 1929. The garden was a popular attraction after it opened in 1932, but was closed for about 25 years until 2001, when it was refurbished. Now you'll find vast groups of water lilies, bromeliads, pineapple plants, plumbago, tall palm trees, and other fragrant vegetation. Explore the hall of the giants, a Polynesian-styled ceremonial palace built by one of the garden's founders, Waldo E. Sexton, out of cypress and pine. The palace contains an 11 m (35 foot) table made from a single piece of mahogany. Beautiful gardens with a lot to see. Nice way to enjoy the outdoors and to kill a couple of hours. They have a nice area for kids as well. Good for young and old alike.

It is a great place to go. The employees were all very kind and helpful. The kid's area was fun, safe and exciting for my child. The plants and setting was very calming and serene. Also the cafe had excellent service and delicious food. A perfect place for a family to spend some quality time.

This had been my first time. We spent a nice cloudy day walking around and enjoying the sights. There was a lot to see and the dinosaur exhibit was excellent and the highlight of my visit. I really enjoyed it! I guess if you have kids and you want to take them they would really enjoy it and they would also enjoy the kids playground!
