Fun is a major part of every visit to The Wetlands Institute, as everything here combines both education and entertainment!

Every visit begins with Marion’s gardens, award winning gardens which surround the parking lot and line the walkway to the main building. You will pass hundreds of native plants, each chosen to attract birds and butterflies.

We are open all Winter for self-guided tours of all the Institute’s facilities. In the Summer, we offer complete guided tours, as well as back bay boat rides, kayaking, live animal shows, family entertainment and guided beach & dune walks. Visit our events section for more information on schedules.

  • Save the shore - A trip to the Wetlands Institute will teach about the shore, the point, its birds, and wildlife. Keep the shore for generations to come.

  • Windy out, the day we were there, but obviously a really good habitat area, level, mostly gravel trails. As you can see by the interior photos, they have some fine wood carving artists providing close up details on both residential and migrants to assist birders of all levels in identifying birds that can be seen in the local Wetlands. Lots of other good merchandise that helps support their efforts to conserve, maintain, improve and share this special habitat for all kinds of living things, including humans.
