Founded in 1565 by Spanish admiral Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, the city was Spanish Florida's capital for 200 years and the Florida Territory's until 1824. Walk the cobblestone streets and admire the Spanish-style architecture, explore the museum and other exhibits, grab a bite to eat, and shop. Purchase a hop-on-hop-off trolley ticket to get around or go by foot. The price of the ticket includes admission to several points of interest, including the jail, general store, history museum, and a demonstration at the tea house.
