Spanning the San Carlos Bay, Sanibel Causeway connects Sanibel Island to Florida's mainland at Fort Myers. Newly rebuilt in 2007, the bridge is accessible to both cars and bicycles. The 4.5-km (2.8-mi) drive across offers unmatched views of the bay, with opportunities to pull over and snap photos periodically. Two man-made islands connect the three separate bridges making up the causeway. Stop at one of the islands for a quiet place to have a picnic. Can be very busy, but a cool place to hang out. As of 3/22 I think it's $6 to cross the bridge, free to come back.

We love this place. It is only $6 and one of the few "bus friendly" places that is near the water. A great place to spend the day or just for some Sundowners. It does get a bit crowded around sunset, but it is worth it.
