Cape San Blas Lighthouse, Port Saint Joe

We arrived at 11:00am and were the first customers of the day. After paying the $5.00 per person and chatting with the friendly woman in the gift shop, she handed me the key and told me I could unlock the padlock myself! I love the small town trust and easy going attitude about it. We ascended the first set of steps outside and after unlocking the door to the main stairs, began climbing up the interior spiral steps. I’m not a fan of heights or cramped spaces and this was both. Although not bad at all! There were two windows on the way up and numbers on the wall to tell you how many steps you had climbed. Once at the top the wind was howling. We opened the two doors that led to the cat walk around the top. My kids went first and after some coaxing I stepped out into the wind. Hanging onto the railing, I walked all the way around the top. The views were great and the experience was well worth it. The height wasn’t bad and the staircase was actually really cool. If you’re even considering this, I’d say go for it! A great memory for my family!
