Man in the Sea Museum, Panama City

This museum is a real treasure and I'm glad we made the time to stop in and learn. Terrific bang for the buck and some interesting subject matter. We were greeted in the parking lot before we even walked in by one of the docents who explained some of the objects displayed outside. Both of the staff members on duty were super enthusiastic and, as former Navy divers, were able to explain the exhibits with some authority on the subject. Make sure to ask questions! They make a point of promoting the video, for good reason, it is a Must watch. Well worth the 45 minutes. Learning about the Sea Lab studies was really interesting, being able to go into it and check it out really helped make it clear what pioneers these men were in deep sea exploration. They are super accommodating, things like the snacks and drinks are awesome touches, and super helpful to keep kids happy. We managed to keep a 3 year old entertained for the 3 hours we spent there, could've stayed longer. The kids corner is a real nice touch! If you can spare the time and have an interest in science and engineering, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better way to spend a few hours! They could (and probably should) change more, worth visiting at twice the price. The enthusiasm of the staff was terrific and helped make it a great visit.

Man this place was really cool. I've gotta say, they've turned someone who wasn't really interested in the ocean into someone who was. The staff is really nice too. There is a whole bunch of cool stuff in here, even from over a hundred years ago. I might have gained interest in the ocean, but one thing is for certain: you could not pay me enough to stay for a week down there in any craft, no matter how hospitable. I'd like to give a huge thanks to the staff who gave us a ton of information and who were really kind. If I get the chance to be in Panama City again, then I might just check this place out for a second time. Thanks again.
