A taste of Europe in Miami, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens once served as the home of businessman James Deering. Begun in 1910, with architecture and gardens modeled on the Mediterranean Revival style, the estate was Deering's winter residence from 1916 until his death in 1925. Today, the museum and gardens attract visitors who are drawn by the villa's collection of antique furniture, tapestries, paintings, and decorative arts. The seaside gardens brim with fountains, sculptures, gazebos, trails, and pools. The estate frequently hosts dignitaries from around the world. Beautiful old estate and gardens from another era. The house has been maintained pretty well, and the gardens are beautiful. The gardens are on several levels, arranged in outdoor rooms, each more enchanting than the next. Very picturesque. Lots of people posing in the house and all over the grounds. The was even a bridal shoot. There were a lot of people, but it wasn't crowded. It must have been an amazing place to visit in its heyday!

Beautiful landscape, unique decor and tons of history packed into this place. Lots of art decor and history. The complimentary audio tour provides a great selection paced tool too explore this marvelous mansion. Tons of nooks and crannies to explore. The gardens are breathtaking and beautiful. Between the main building, the gazebo, and the gardens, there is no lack of photo opportunities. Spent hours exploring and enjoyed every minute.
