With boardwalks that bring you up to the height of a giraffe's head, Brevard Zoo offers an amazing opportunity to see the black-tongued creatures up close, to pet and feed them, and to be photographed with them. This smallish zoo has more than 650 animals, including multicolored lorikeets (like parrots) you can feed and that may sit on your shoulders. Paddle through the wetlands on a nice, easy kayak ride that gives a different look at many parts of the zoo and its inhabitants. Hop on the Cape to Cairo Express, a train that takes you around Lemur Island, where you can see dromedaries, ostriches, and scimitar oryxes--a species that is extinct in the wild. The zoo is divided into five main areas: Africa, Australasia, Wild Florida, La Selva (the wilderness of South America), and Paws on Play, which has a petting zoo, an aquarium, a pizzeria, and more. If you like zoos but dread the idea of an all-day affair with too much walking, this smaller zoo will appeal to you. If you're a member of another zoo, bring your card and ask if this one has reciprocal admission. A beautiful well maintained zoo. The habitats are very believable mimicking the lands the animals come from. All the animals look happy and healthy with plenty for them to do within their exhibits. The hub style layout off the grounds make it extremely easy to find ones way around the zoo. The food is good, I had a burger and it was a fresh made burger put together for not a frozen one. My wife and I will definitely be purchasing passes. Definitely a gem in Brevard county and a very respectful zoo.

We are vacationing on the Space Coast, and took a break from the beach to visit Brevard Zoo. We had a fantastic day! I love the way the zoo is laid out. It is set up so that you have the opportunity to view the animals from several different vantage points, making sure no matter where the animals are you are able to see them. We have fed giraffes in several different zoos, and the feeding experience at Brevard Zoo is by far a top experience (and great value). A visit to paws on water area at the end of our day was a perfect way for the kids to cool off and finish up the visit. We can't wait to return when the kids are old enough to do the kayak experience. Overall I highly recommend visiting
