Nestled in the core of the Florida Keys, The Turtle Hospital rescues, rehabilitates, and protects injured and sick sea turtles. Since 1986 the center has worked to raise awareness of the dangers sea turtles face. The staff conducts research on turtle health and returns wounded turtles that are healed to their natural habitat. Some turtles cannot live in the wild due to surgeries or permanent disabilities, so the hospital cares for its permanent residents. To take a tour and see the turtles, be sure to call well in advance; slots are limited and fill up quickly. This was a great thing to do with my family. It was an overcast day so we went for the 90 minute tour and it did not disappoint. Our guide Mackenzie was great she could answer every question and provide lots of great information. The turtles are neat to see and it’s an overall very informative guided tour. I would for sure visit again! The gift shop is also very neat.

This was worth every penny! I felt very educated about sea turtles, and seeing so many up close was really cool. Every penny goes to the care of sea turtles, and the staff is very sweet. The gift shop had a lot of great info as well. My boys love their new stuffed turtles we got them as gifts!
