  • I’d heard this was the best luau the island and now I believe it! Tickets were sold out when we inquired, but our family of 5 got called off the waitlist a couple days prior. Buffet food was pretty...

  • We have been to other luaus so I am making comparisons. This luau was superb! The garden grounds are beautiful with peacocks, nenes and other birds wandering about. The imu ceremony and luau itself...

  • We chose the Smith Family Luau due to it being hosted by a local family rather than a resort, and it being the best rate we found. We were SO HAPPY with our decision! The family was so welcoming and the Luau was hosted on their beautiful family gardens with a free tram tour before the feast. Food was plentiful, open bar was great, and everything tasted amazing. The show was stunning, especially the fire dances! Would highly recommend to anyone!
  • Oh man. It’s never a good feeling walking away from something feeling scammed. The word “tourist trap” definitely comes to mind. I’ll start with a positive: the gardens are beautiful and the staff friendly but the positive ends there unfortunately. The food was so so bad. So incredibly bad. Our party of 16 people all felt the same. The chicken was bad- like sour tasting. The beef tasted like jerky and I didn’t dare try the pork. The potatoes I am pretty sure are instant and the veggies were definitely frozen. I didn’t dare eat anything else. My kids were entertained by the jello though. The people in our party that drank said the drinks were very watered down and contained very little alcohol. The “entertainment” portion during dinner was awkward and uncomfortable. I felt like I was in a bad corny movie. Finally luau time! The outdoor theatre seating could dub as a torture device. The show itself probably has not been updated in the 75 years since the family started it. No production value, no story. Very very boring. We actually couldn’t even make it to the end and left early. This was definitely a memorable experience and will probably be a funny story in the future was the pain of spending $125 a person wears off. If you have made it this far, please do yourself a favor and spend the extra $2 a person and take yourself to Gaylord’s. It’s been 3 years but 3 years ago the luau and food at Gaylord’s was fantastic.
