Interesting plant life. Section of tall grass, not great for small kids who can easily walk the trail but can't see anything for awhile.

The Mahana ridge trail was great exercise and shaded. The pineapples growing trailside were very cool and so was the aloe. There weren't many great vistas or views. The terrain was smooth and the red earth was very interesting. Someone went to an extraordinary amount of work to build the natural stone staircases. The hike winds through a new housing development and a new golf course. Most of the hike appears to be part of a restoration project; as the vegetation appears planted and there is a plastic (appears to be) ground cover in many areas. If you are choosing between this hike and Wahee ridge...there is no comparison. Do the Wahee ridge hike.
