  • Maunawili Falls Trailhead is closed. Security is standing. You still can go to the falls via Pali highway hairpin curb, but don't go to the trailhead.

  • We hiked this trail to the waterfall with 2 families with 4 kids each (ages 10-16) and it was perfect. Long enough to be worth the drive and short enough that no one whined about being tired or...

  • Beautiful long hike with a trail that is only partly maintained. Maunawili is as I understand currently closed and under construction/renovations. I could see why it bothered neighbors because the trailhead was located at the end of the street. Maunawili is such an interesting trail because it takes you through many different landscapes. You really get to enjoy the beauty of Hawaii and tropical climate here. At the very end is a beautiful falls with a pond/pool. The hike is mostly shaded but I would recommend Bringing water and remembering to stay hydrated.
  • A much more challenging hike than my family was expecting, so if you have small children please be prepared to do a lot of work keeping them safe. The trail isn't exactly dangerous, but it isn't well maintained in many areas and after the rain, the entire trail at the base of the hills become super muddy. This trail is beautiful in the fact that it's a true "jungle" trail.. It's literally carved out in the middle of nature without any car noise.. houses.. etc. It's awesome if you want to get outside and get to experience something in a beautiful natural state. The waterfall at the end is awesome too! Please be sure to not litter.. Keep noise pollution down and leash/clean up after your dogs.
