See Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary, where rescued wild cats are cared for. Animals seized due to illegal or poor ownership are permanent residents of this sanctuary. You can interact with volunteers and meet about 40 animals, among which are tigers, lions, cougars, leopards, bobcats, arctic foxes, and coatimundis. Take a guided tour, usually scheduled in the afternoon and evening and find out about the species currently at the sanctuary, their habitats, activities, and life stories. Because this is a volunteer operation, tour times and hours can vary, so double-check the website before going. Enjoyed much more than I expected to! At first glance it looks a little rough with overgrowth, weeds, chain link fence enclosures and dirt/gravel roads. However, as I walked through I felt that the cats certainly seemed comfortable, healthy and and were active. Some of the enclosures seemed to be newer and had concrete watering holes etc and one of the workers mentioned that with the help of visitors like us (and trip advisor! ) they have been able to create nicer enclosures. She mentioned that of course, all the enclosures meet all requirements but since they were able to they were choosing to make these changes. That impressed me. They offer educational programs and are run by volunteers. Give them a try and support a quality operation!

This place is always a fun place to go! There are so many big cats here that have all been rescued. We went for the night feed which was super fun. The cats are more active at night! It was only $24 and I even got a free shirt too. You can bring your camera too, make sure you bring a zoom lens. You’ll need it!
