Experience lush vegetation and towering waterfalls at Akaka Falls State Park. Set out on the paved footpath just off the parking lot for a loop through the park. On this easy, 0.6 km (0.4 mi) walk, you can see tropical plants and stop at viewpoints for two waterfalls, Kahūnā and Akaka. • Mildly strenuous trek if you walk the complete route, not pleasant on a hot day, but worth it. Parking can be challenging, we parked outside of the pay lot along the side of the road.

  • What fun to visit Akaka Falls. There is parking at the end of the road and you do pay to park and walk into the falls area. Some people were able to park on the side of the road but it will depend.....  more

  • You will pay a fee to enter and will stay less than an hour as there aren’t much seating opportunities but it is a beautiful, very easy and short trail! The waterfall is absolutely stunning and so serene. There are bathrooms on site - we went right at opening and only had one other family with us so check out busy time and avoid it! Definitely worth the drive if you want to see some natural beauty and work up a little sweat seeing it:) beautiful luscious green scenery as well. Take it all in and breathe that fresh air!!
  • Neat area to walk and take pictures in front of some of Hawaii's natural beauty. There's a big loop you take that takes you up and down to different viewpoints. I'd recommend walking shoes, but sandals could work. You do have to pay for parking/entry. You pay at the entrance to the park. There's also picnic benches and bathrooms for use.
