Experience lush vegetation and towering waterfalls at Akaka Falls State Park. Set out on the paved footpath just off the parking lot for a loop through the park. On this easy, 0.6 km (0.4 mi) walk, you can see tropical plants and stop at viewpoints for two waterfalls, Kahūnā and Akaka. At Akaka Falls, watch water plummet 129 m (422 ft) into a stream-eroded gorge. Consider bringing some bug spray to ward off mosquitos. • You don't want to miss this! The falls are gorgeous and it's an easy walk even for those of us who are not in the greatest shape.

  • This was a beautiful doable hike for 55 year olds. I think it’s a must do. Path was paved with steps and good handrails.

  • Beautiful falls. $5 entry free and if you park within the gates, it's $10 for parking. If you don't want to pay the $10, park outside the gates and the walk is like 50 extra steps. When you get in to the falls area you can take a loop starting to the right, it's got quite a hill if you're wearing flip flops and you can really see the other falls, but there are some beautiful trees etc on that shirt loop. Loop takes about 20-30 minutes. I'd recommend just going left and head straight to Akaka falls if you're short on time or not nimble in flip flops. The falls are beautiful!!
  • Nice park with a short, paved, and easy to walk trail (not ADA accessible as there are quite a few stairs). Easy to avoid paying the parking fee by parking on the street. It felt like walking through a jungle and there were gorgeous views. If you're in the area or with a family its an easy spot to hit, with many roadside shops and shacks along the way.
