Built in 1920, Bonnet House Museum and Gardens centers around a plantation-style building featured on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Once the winter home of Frederic Clay Bartlett and his wife Helen, it is now the residence of two American artists, but it remains open to the public. Inside you'll find the art collection and personal items from the original owners. The gardens feature five different ecosystems. Look for exotic parrots, cockatiels, and swans in the aviary, while the grounds showcase wild squirrel monkeys, gopher tortoises, and manatees. We have lived here almost our entire lives and go to Ft Lauderdale Beach all the time but never once visited the Bonnet House until now. It's such a beautiful home with so much history behind it...

We had a fantastic time so thoroughly enjoyed learning the history of the house and the grounds and the people who had lived there. The volunteers were wonderfully wonderfully knowledgeable and enthusiastic which made it even more enthralling. We highly suggest you take the day and go and enjoy

As a wedding guest I was enthralled at the beautiful and dramatic botanical gardens. The Lilly covered pond, surrounded by mature palms. The perfect wedding venue. The attentive staff, easy parking and numerous small carts to trolley you back and forth. A 35 acre paradise.
