  • This is a very pretty beach. All I can say is take bug spray because you will need it. The sand fleas are everywhere and I assure you that when you leave there you will look like you have the chicken....  more

  • Gorgeous strip of beach on Merritt Island's wildlife preserve, and Kennedy Space Center. I and my family came for the launch views, but stayed for the natural beauty. Unfortunately due to Hurricane Ian, there was significant flooding and high water levels...but we still had a nice visit. Entrance fee to the parking areas and beach is $20, unless you have a National Park pass. Park hours are 8am-6pm. Watch what roads you drive down; there are several restricted access roads on the island; and with its close proximity to the space center, parts of the beach are blocked off. Driving/hiking on the dunes is prohibited. We chatted with a very sweet and informative park ranger on site as well (I don't recall her name), who gave us some very useful info about the area. There are signs posted that state this is a clothing optional beach, so watch out for nakeys! For launch viewers; this is a prime spot; especially for pads 39a & b, but apparently they close the beach for manned launches, so do some research before picking this as your viewing location. (Rocket in my pic is the Crew5 rocket, taken the day before it took off) Overall a stellar beach with lots of near pristine natural beauty...and sometimes rockets!
  • Great place to spend the day. Access for a 7 day pass is $20 for visitors discount for veterans. Annual passes are available 13 parking locations with boardwalks to the beach restrooms in the car parks. Popular with fishermen and people wanting to chill Careful when swimming No lifeguard on duty this is a state park.
