It was originally constructed as the family residence of George E. Merrick, founder of the city of Coral Gables.

The Merrick House is now open and it is a fantastic place to learn the history of beautiful Coral Gables. The docents do a wonderful job of giving an informative tour and the gardens are lovely...

Historic place, great to learn how the city of Coral Gables was conceived by Mr. Merrick. To the negative reviewers, it is history if you find it boring don’t go there but don’t bash the place either. And to the reviewer who gave one star because the museum was closed? Really?
