We visited on a rainy day. Only two others went on the tour through the mansion with us. The young guide treated us to a colorful glimpse into the families that lived there. It felt like we were there with them, fit into an era of the past. The walk through the grounds were like stepping back in time again. Nicely preserved buildings. Especially the old saw mill powered by the creek. But it wasn’t functioning and we had no guide to explain things, but doors were open to look on the setting within. It only cost several dollars each for admission, but was a bit confusing to find the entrance around back from the parking lot to get the ticket and time slot for the mansion tour. The front entryway was locked up like it was closed. Overall, it was a great uncrowded day on the restored old estate that left us appreciating another era and people in history. Nicely done.

spent the day walking around the village and looking in the various building. We missed the mansion tour by a few minutes, however we have done it before and it is well worth the $3/person. We the. hiked the yellow trail before doubling back on some of the roads used by people with canoes. Overall this is a great place to spend a day with your family.
