  • Visited yesterday with an old mining engineer, very informative tour underground and led by two excellent guides. The historical descriptions of working practices remind me of how lucky we all are...

  • The staff were all absolutely brilliant. We hadn't pre booked tickets for the underground part of the museum, the actual mine, but they managed to accommodate us. There are a good amount of volunteers, all of whom were very knowledgeable in their own areas. The cafe, a first at a museum, sold good reasonably priced food. The exhibits were well chosen, documented and laid out, the Power House being my favorite. Our underground mine tour guide, an actual miner no less was brilliant. A great five hours! The toilets were kept absolutely immaculate as well, something one doesn't comment on very often, but it was a pleasure to use them. Spotless!
  • Had a brilliant time here. It's clean, spacious, educational and friendly. The tour underground is great, our guide got us involved and told us things about what it is like to work down there, using his own experience too, worth it and you also get a little token souvenir when you arrive and get your ticket. Cafe ✅ car park ✅ outdoor space/walking ✅ family friendly ✅ museum/things to look at ✅ disabled friendly ✅ (not sure about the underground tour though) value for money ✅✅✅✅✅ all in all, very enjoyable for adults and young people alike.
