Create an itinerary including Tewkesbury Abbey
A former Benedictine monastery with the largest Romanesque crossing tower in all of Europe, Tewkesbury Abbey is the second largest parish church in the country. Of the church’s three spectacular organs, the most notable is the Milton Organ installed in the 18th century, while the most practical is the Elliot chamber organ of 1812, mounted on a movable platform. Attend a morning service to listen to the acoustics and enjoy a parish breakfast following the ceremony. Photography is restricted in the abbey. • This gem of an Abbey is set in a flood plane. When I was there it was surrounded by water - but access was easy and the abbey, dry. Lovely interior and music, if you get to hear the organ.

  • An amazing place to explore. Lots of little, very old and beautiful shops. Nice little pubs and restaurants everywhere for you to enjoy. Take a walk along it’s beautiful canal or over to it’s beautiful weir. Really enjoyed my time here. Highly recommend a visit..
  • Amazing place.. Peaceful and serene. Able to walk around and appreciate pieces of interest, based on the free pamphlets available at the abbey. The grounds are stunning. But make sure we enter this abbey to offer our prayers just like the monks who lived there did 😊 It is but a house of worship and prayer 🙏
