  • Went with my daughter, partner and my 2 grandchildren aged 4&6. After handing up our coats (very warm where the butterflies are housed) we went to the entrance and were through very quick - arrived at 10:00. Lots of butterflies free flying and loads feeding on fruit. If you stand still they also land of you giving great photo opportunities. Lots of information as you go round and the whole life cycle of butterflies clearly explained. Large pool of wonderfully coloured carp to see. Take some 20p pieces as you can get food to feed the carp. Stayed for a talk on the Atlas moth which was very informative and relevant for both children and adults. Allowed to handle caterpillars pupae and other objects. Spent a good two hours wandering through. Noticed that as the morning passed by there seemed to be less butterflies in flight so maybe and early visit is best. Other things to spot are stick insects iguanas and display cases of other exotic spiders etc.
  • Great place to take the kids (particularly younger ones) for a half hour when in Stratford. Colourful butterflies in the main room with a side hatchery room and an insect/reptile room too. Toilet were good and family friendly. Outside seating to eat your sandwiches. Close to two open air car parks (fine most of the year but do fill up in peak season) with play park and seasonal fun fair. A 5 minute walk across the river to the middle of town.
