Built in the 12th century and still holding services, Norwich Cathedral is one of 12 heritage sites in the area. Enter the cathedral through one of the two historic gates: the Ethelbert gate or the original gated entrance. Inside, you'll see 61 misericords, small wooden shelves also known as "mercy seats," carved on the underside of the folding chairs. Several hundred of the over 1,000 bosses (raised ornamental decorations) are carved and painted with ornate delicacy. A free guided tour will fill you in on the highlights. Tours are given daily, so there is no need to book ahead. The cathedral is an important cultural meeting place, with regular exhibits in the Hostry Visitor and Education Center and live music at the refectory. Fantastic place to visit and it was free to enter, Just how did they build places like this hundreds of years ago. Free admission but donations welcome. Very beautiful place with friendly staff.

Lovely cathedral in beautiful grounds. I just wonder what God thinks about some of the things being sold within its walls though. I would like to see a little more thought going into some of the reading material on sale. Really good cafe. Staff across the board were very friendly and welcoming

Lovely place to visit and calming. Free entry, donations welcomed. Happy to wander around on my own, volunteers were available to assist with any questions and were very friendly. The outsude Cloisters are tranquil, sat on bench and enjoyed sunshine albeit chilly. Lots of places to quietly sit. Toilets clean. Cafeteria available although did not use this time. Would recommend.
