  • Breathtaking cave! Parking is a bit of a nightmare and you have to get lucky if you want to be reasonably close. Don't try the Three Shires Inn as they specifically only allow customers to use their car park while visiting the pub and I think that's fair enough! There's a few nice streams you can paddle in and let the dogs cool off. Around the cave there's remnants of the slate mine and lots of cute little cairns people have made when they visit. Lovely and cool inside the cave on a hot day. If you fancy more of a scramble you can trek up to another viewpoint out over the main cavern.
  • Epic! We hiked from Elterwater and enjoyed every moment but the highlight was certainly the old quarries. You walk through a small tunnel into the most magnificent of caves with a single magnificent pillar seemingly keeping it all from collapsing. We clambered up to the top to get views back down into the cove. A great spot and we’ll worth a hike to reach them.
