Create an itinerary including Inveraray Castle
Home to the chief of the Campbell clan since the 16th century, Inveraray Castle still houses the 13th Duke's family on two floors. The rooms open to the public are furnished in the Neoclassical style and include glided ornamental detail on the walls and ceilings, chandeliers, and polished furnishings. The highlights are the tapestry room and the duke's coronation robes. The first floor houses a gallery chronicling the Cambell family history and the MacArthur Room, where a ghost is said to haunt the bed. Visit the castle's website to book a discounted ticket in advance. • Very interesting castle to visit, but priced a bit high for what you see. Gardens not very special or particularly large.

  • My husband and I loved our day at Inveraray Castle during our Scotland road trip! The gardens are beautiful for walking, the gift shop has fantastic items, they have a great cafe with soups & sandwiches, and the restrooms are clean and accessible. There are some great shops in the town center nearby as well. We are glad we took a break from hiking one day to relax and visit the castle!
  • Lovely day spent looking around the house and gardens, great collection of weapons on display plus lots of family photos and history. You can walk to the town from the car park for something to eat or take the car and then return Can recommend.
