Originally opened in 1898 as a recreation space and museum, since the 1940s, People's Palace and Winter Gardens has been a museum for the social history of Glasgow. Inside the Victorian architecture, you'll find the stories of the city's people from 1750 to present day. Explore the winter gardens, where lush foliage thrives all year long protected from the damp weather outside. The main building's interior commemorates Glasgow's history in murals and panels. For example, the domed ceiling displays a series of panels by Ken Currie depicting the Calton Weavers’ Massacre of 1787. Outside you'll find the Doulton Fountain, the largest terracotta fountain in the world. It was quite a small but nice museum. The top floor is currently closed so only the first floor exhibits are open. Lots about the people of Glasgow

The People's Palace is brilliant. So much to see and learn about. It's great to be able to look back and hear from people growing up in the city. Just a shame the Glass House is no longer open. That was a fantastic place. A real loss that it's gone.

Great staff .sadly the top floor and winter Gardens are closed ..the top floor is due to open soon and money is being raised to give the building and the winter Gardens a much needed refurbishment. It will still be a good while till the once beautiful winter Gardens are open though. It has a very interesting collection on glasgows social history
