Hardknott Roman Fort is an archeological site, the remains of the Roman fort Mediobogdum, located on the western side of the Hardknott Pass in the English county of Cumbria. The fort was built between 120 and 138 on a rocky spur, and was initially garrisoned by a detachment of the Cohors IV Delmatarum from the Dalmatian coast (in modern Croatia). Absolutely stunning location. On a sunny day you can see as far as the end of the valley. The Hardknott pass is really close from here so it's a must-see when visiting these parts. Fully recommended for any adventure whether it's family holidays or a weekend getaway. The rocks can get slippery so watch your steps.

An amazing piece of history. Beautifully preserved. Too look over the area and try to imagine what an alien landscape this must have been too a Roman soldier. Highly recommend for anyone seeking any kind of inspiration or who wants to gain perspective of history
