Ushaw Historic House, Chapels & Gardens, Durham

Found this place last minute. Somewhere new to go. House? Still very interesting and somewhat unusual. Not what we were expecting. The Chapel was breathtaking. Stained glass windows stunning. Lady playing the organ just completed the experience. Lots of information everywhere you went. The refectory was good value for money with choice of sandwiches, soup, sausage rolls/quiche, scones and delicious cakes. The gardens were relatively small with an array of colour and smells. The carved animal trail great for the kids. Plenty of places to sit. With the house as a back drop a pleasant place to have a picnic.

Have had a brilliant day at Ushaw. A walk around the gardens and the soup and a cup of tea in the refectory. Did a guided tour by Christine, It was so informative and she was very knowledgeable. Made history come to life Thank you so much. Will visit again soon
