  • This is really worth a visit for all ages. There are a lot of different types of rail exhibits. We particularly enjoyed the Royal train.

  • An excellent way to spend a couple of hours. The museum is lovely and the exhibits are well placed for good viewing. Lots of interesting facts and a chance to see the working bits close up. Train wheels are seriously scary! The Royal Carriage is beautiful. In addition there is a well stocked shop (filled with memorabilia that is a train enthusiast's paradise) and a lovely little cafe so you can round off your visit with a cuppa and a snack. I'm amazed this interesting little museum is FREE TO VISIT but we were more than happy to make a donation. Worth a visit and 100% recommended.
  • Brilliant railway museum and free to enter with small cafe inside on entering the kids were given a little Thomas booklet , one of the steam engines had steps so you could access the cab area and inside was a guy who explained the how the engine worked , the kids were fascinated. If the kids get a bit bored with the display there's an outdoor play area too. . Although it is free they ask if you can make a donation which we happily did . The cafe is small with limited menu and can fill up quickly so maybe a packed lunch would be a good idea . All in all great place really friendly staff , we will return without the children one day for a more relaxed visit .
