It took more than 700 years to build Bristol Cathedral, considered one of the finest medieval churches in Europe. Still in operation today for worship, community service, and private prayer, the cathedral began as an Augustine abbey. Visitors can still trace the original transepts, but it’s the tall Gothic windows and pinnacled skyline that will capture your attention. To understand the full majesty of the structure, it’s best to take a step back as far as possible on College Green where it is located. Entering the cathedral, be sure to be on the lookout for surprising details, including carvings of beasts imitating people in the Elder Lady Chapel. Guided tours are available, and you can book portions of the cathedral for private candlelit dinners. Loved this place. Updated memorial to people enslaved by others and "traded" by some of the Bristol merchants was poinant and next to the candles for prayers for Ukraine. Super building, amazing ceiling and relevant work going on. No pressure to pay anything. Open to all with a chatty friendly person to help you. In an excellent position on College Green, between the central library an the Marriott Hotel, opposite The Lord Mayor's Chapel and The Council Hall. Walking distance of the river, shops and The Hippodrome.

Visited to see the museum of the moon which was an amazing experience. To see it in this setting was magical and the accompanying music was perfect. A beautiful building, one of Bristol's treasures.
