Visited the Lakes on what became the hottest weekend of the summer, hence the world descended to the area. Our B&B host suggested here as an alternative place to escape the crowds. It is on the South.... more

A lovely friendly welcome as we arrived by the staff looking after the area. We had a lovely walk and saw lots of birds and also the seals from a distance. We were there for about 3 hours, it's a lovely, mainly flat walk but not really suitable for wheelchairs and a bit of a struggle for pushchairs.

Really cold and windy day but the walk (red route, approx 3 miles) was fabulous. Plenty of bird hides and information boards and we saw LOTS of birds! Dogs are not allowed, to protect ground nesting birds and walking on the shore is off limits for the same reason but the pathways are good and the rewards in terms of bird species are worth it. Good clean toilets and Plenty of picnic tables
