Hersonissos — 3 nights

Wholeheartedly dedicated to tourism, Hersonissos remains best known for its vibrant nightlife, its bars and clubs attracting partygoers from around the world.
Venture out of the city with trips to Agios Nikolaos (Panagias Keras Church & Lake Voulismeni), Heraklion (Heraklion Archaeological Museum & The Natural History Museum of Crete) and Aegeo Spas (in Istron). There's lots more to do: delve into the distant past at The Palace of Knossos, take in the spiritual surroundings of Ieros Naos Agios Konstandinou kai Elenis, see the interesting displays at Kazantzakis Museum, and make a splash at Watercity Waterpark Themed Park.

Thessaloniki to Hersonissos is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train, ferry, and bus; or take a bus. Traveling from Thessaloniki in July, expect nights in Hersonissos to be about the same, around 24°C, while days are a bit cooler, around 34°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Wed) so you can drive to Chania Town.

Chania Town — 5 nights

The place where Cretan and Venetian cultures merged in the 13th century, Chania Town attracts throngs of tourists with its well-preserved medieval harbor.
Explore Chania Town's surroundings by going to Falassarna Beach (in Falassarna), Elafonissi (Elafonissi Beach & Elafonisi Viewpoint) and Astrikas Estate Biolea (in Astrikas). Spend the 9th (Sat) exploring nature at Samaria Gorge National Park. There's much more to do: don't miss a visit to Old Venetian Harbor, take an in-depth tour of Historical and Folklore Museum of Rethymno, contemplate the long history of The Venetian Fortezza, and stop by Rethymnon Old Town.

You can drive from Hersonissos to Chania Town in 2.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of shuttle and bus; or take a bus. In July in Chania Town, expect temperatures between 37°C during the day and 25°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 11th (Mon) so you can catch the flight back home.
