Honolulu — 6 nights

In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Koko Crater Railway Trail and Room Escape Games. Explore Honolulu's surroundings by going to Kailua (Kalapawai Historic Market, Kailua Beach Park, &more), Banzai Pipeline (in Pupukea) and Scuba & Snorkeling (in Haleiwa). There's lots more to do: hit the best photo ops around with an inspiring photography tour, take in the spiritual surroundings of Saint Augustine by-the-Sea, head outdoors with Outdoor Activities, and see the interesting displays at Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum.

To see where to stay, more things to do, photos, and tourist information, go to the Honolulu road trip planning tool.

Hong Kong, China to Honolulu is an approximately 15-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 18 hours traveling from Hong Kong to Honolulu. Traveling from Hong Kong in December, things will get somewhat warmer in Honolulu: highs are around 32°C and lows about 24°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Thu) so you can fly back home.

The Gathering Place
A top cultural and vacation destination within the Hawaiian Islands, Oahu is home to over 85 percent of the state's population. Aptly nicknamed the "Gathering Place," the island is truly at the heart of Hawaii, featuring the busy city of Honolulu and its surrounding districts. Visitors to Oahu can enjoy all the modern conveniences of a large city, while remaining within walking distance of secluded beaches, picturesque parks, high mountain peaks, and quaint little towns. To experience the laid-back side of Hawaii, take a trip away from the tourist hotspot of Waikiki, the island's most crowded neighborhood.
