Nestled on the western shore of Derwentwater, Portinscale serves as a perfect base for a walking holiday in the English Lake District.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Muncaster Castle and Castlerigg Stone Circle. Visiting Alpacaly Ever After and Derwentwater will get you outdoors. There's still lots to do: hike along Catbells Lakeland Walk, see the interesting displays at The Puzzling Place, tour the pleasant surroundings at Haystacks, and take in the awesome beauty at Helvellyn.

Linton to Portinscale is an approximately 5-hour car ride. You can also drive. December in Portinscale sees daily highs of 9°C and lows of 5°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Sun) to allow time to drive to Grange-over-Sands.
