Shanghai — 14 nights

With a nickname like the "Pearl of the Orient," it's not surprising Shanghai offers some of the most rewarding attractions and activities in the Far East.
Spend the 13th (Sat) wandering through the wild on Travel China Guide. There's lots more to do: go for a walk through The Bund (Wai Tan), get a taste of the local shopping with Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road), take in nature's colorful creations at Yu Garden (Yuyuan), and take in the exciting artwork at Three on the Bund.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Shanghai is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. You can also drive. Expect colder temperatures when traveling from Kuala Lumpur in November; daily highs in Shanghai reach 20°C and lows reach 13°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Wed) so you can catch the flight to Harbin.

Harbin — 6 nights

The influence of neighboring Russia remains visible throughout much of Harbin, with the country's northernmost metropolis possessing an intoxicating eclecticism in its architecture, food, and art.
Harbin is known for sightseeing, theme parks, and museums. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: examine the collection at Unit 731 Museum, experience rural life at Harbin Northern Modern City Agriculture Model Garden, get into the urban bustle at Harbin Railway Riverside Club, and engage your brain at Heilongjiang Science and Technology Museum.

You can fly from Shanghai to Harbin in 4.5 hours. Other options are to fly; or take a train; or drive. In November, Harbin is colder than Shanghai - with highs of 0°C and lows of -13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Tue) early enough to fly to Beijing.

Beijing — 14 nights

As the political and cultural capital of China, Beijing stands at the heart of Chinese history, buzzing with the energy of its high population density and centuries of importance.
Spend the 5th (Sun) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Make the 13th (Mon) a memorable day with a climbing tour. The adventure continues: see Mutianyu Great Wall, look for gifts at Nanluoguxiang, find something for the whole family at Olympic Park, and get engrossed in the history at The Palace Museum.

Traveling by flight from Harbin to Beijing takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or take a train; or drive. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Harbin in November: high temperatures in Beijing hover around 11°C and lows are around -1°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Tue) to allow enough time to fly to Suzhou.

Suzhou — 8 nights

One of the oldest settlements in the Yangtze basin, Suzhou remains a complex, labyrinthine set of old canal districts, World Heritage gardens, and sprawling modern developments.
Venture out of the city with trips to Jinxi Ancient Town (in Kunshan), Xitang Ancient Town (in Jiashan County) and Shaxi Ancient Town (in Taicang). The adventure continues: stroll around The Classical Gardens of Suzhou, admire the masterpieces at Six Arts Museum, admire the natural beauty at Humble Administrator's Garden, and contemplate the long history of Tongli Town.

Hangzhou — 8 nights

Hangzhou, the scenic capital of Zheijang Province, remains a popular vacation choice for tourists interested in the area's numerous cultural and natural sights.
Hangzhou is known for sightseeing, historic sites, and parks. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: take in the pleasant sights at West Lake (Xi Hu), make a trip to Hangzhou Wang Village, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Hangzhou Baocheng Temple, and delve into the distant past at Wansong College.

Getting from Suzhou to Hangzhou by car takes about 2 hours. Other options: take a train; or take a bus. In December, daily temperatures in Hangzhou can reach 13°C, while at night they dip to 4°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Thu) so you can take a train to Nanjing.

Nanjing — 9 nights

Located on the south bank of the Yangtze River, Nanjing was the capital city of numerous dynasties over the ages.
Change things up with a short trip to Slender West Lake in Yangzhou (about 1h 25 min away). There's lots more to do: explore the different monuments and memorials at Sun Yatsen Mausoleum (Zhongshan Ling), buy something for everyone on your list at Wanda Shopping Plaza (xinjiekou), explore the galleries of The Memorial of the Nanjing Massacre, and walk around Xuanwuhu Park.

Traveling by train from Hangzhou to Nanjing takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a bit cooler evenings in Nanjing when traveling from Hangzhou in December, with lows around 1°C. On the 8th (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
