As the political and cultural capital of China, Beijing stands at the heart of Chinese history, buzzing with the energy of its high population density and centuries of importance.
Escape the urban bustle at Mutianyu Great Wall and Back Lakes (Hou Hai). Shop till you drop at Nanluoguxiang and 798 Art Zone. Spend the 5th (Thu) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. One of the oldest settlements in the Yangtze basin, Suzhou remains a complex, labyrinthine set of old canal districts, World Heritage gardens, and sprawling modern developments.
Suzhou Museum and Suzhou Garden Museum will appeal to museum buffs. Get some cultural insight at Shantang Street and Xitang Ancient Town. Step out of Suzhou with an excursion to Zhouzhuang Water Town in Kunshan--about 56 minutes away. With a nickname like the "Pearl of the Orient," it's not surprising Shanghai offers some of the most rewarding attractions and activities in the Far East.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at The Bund (Wai Tan) and Shanghai Museum (Shanghai Bowuguan). Take a break from the city and head to Nature & Wildlife Tours and Huangpu River. Hangzhou, the scenic capital of Zheijang Province, remains a popular vacation choice for tourists interested in the area's numerous cultural and natural sights.
Tianyi Library and Hefang Street are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Escape the urban bustle at Shaoxing Keyan Scenic Area and Xixi Wetland Park. Step out of Hangzhou to go to Ningbo and see Tianyi Square, which is approximately 1h 50 min away.
