Marsalforn, Island of Gozo — 1 day

The busiest vacation resort on the island of Gozo, the small town of Marsalforn offers a pleasant seafront promenade backed by a string of low-rise hotels and apartment complexes.
Kick off your visit on the 26th (Tue): stroll through Ramla Bay, steep yourself in history at St. George's Basilica, pause for some serene contemplation at Ta' Pinu National Shrine, then learn about winemaking at Ta' Mena Estate, and finally discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour.

Valletta to Marsalforn is an approximately 1-hour combination of ferry and taxi. You can also do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of bus and taxi. In July, plan for daily highs up to 36°C, and evening lows to 26°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel to Valletta.

Malta's capital city, Valletta preserves most of its medieval architecture, built in the 16th and 17th centuries by the Knights Hospitaller, once a powerful military order.
Get a sense of the local culture at Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Paul and Barrakka Lift. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Mosta Rotunda. Explore Valletta's surroundings by going to Gozo Ferry Port (in Cirkewwa), Malta Classic Car Collection Museum (in Qawra) and Mellieha (St Agatha's Tower (Red Tower), Mellieha Air Raid Shelter, &more). There's much more to do: wander the streets of Spinola Bay, admire the masterpieces at Casa Rocca Piccola, pause for some photo ops at Mdina Main Gate - Baroque gateway, and see the interesting displays at National Museum of Archaeology.

Getting from Marsalforn to Valletta by combination of taxi and ferry takes about an hour. Other options: do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of taxi and bus. In July in Valletta, expect temperatures between 36°C during the day and 26°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Sat) to allow time to travel back home.
