Theme Park Capital of the World

For most people, any mention of Orlando immediately conjures up images of sprawling theme parks filled with characters plucked right out of popular animated movies.
Family-friendly places like Universal's Islands of Adventure and Universal Orlando Resort will thrill your kids. Get out of town with these interesting Orlando side-trips: Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (in Tampa), Merritt Island (Local Lines Guide Service, NASA Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, &more) and Ormond Beach (First United Methodist Church, Andy Romano Beachfront Park, &more). Have a day of magic on the 3rd (Wed) at Walt Disney World Resort. Have a day of magic on the 14th (Sun) at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And it doesn't end there: get in on the family fun at SeaWorld, discover the magic at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, take a memorable tour with Tours, and cool off at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.

Ocala to Orlando is an approximately 1.5-hour car ride. You can also take a shuttle; or take a bus. In August, daytime highs in Orlando are 92°F, while nighttime lows are 76°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 21st (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Jacksonville.

The River City

The sprawling city of Jacksonville is not only Florida's most populous city, but also the largest city by land area in the continental United States.
Kids will enjoy Fish Amelia Island and St. Augustine Wild Reserve. Venture out of the city with trips to Fernandina Beach (Island Falls Golf, Egan's Creek Greenway, &more), TPC at Sawgrass Stadium Course (in Ponte Vedra Beach) and Amelia Island (Amelia Island Historic District & Fernandina Beach). There's lots more to do: explore the landscape on two wheels at Jekyll Island Trail System, kick back and relax at Driftwood Beach, identify plant and animal life at Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary, and take in nature's colorful creations at Butterfly Rainforest.
