The capital and political center of Switzerland, Bern sits on a peninsula formed by the U-shaped River Aare.Popular historic sites such as The Cathedral of Bern and Jesuitenkirche are in your itinerary. Attractions like UNESCO-Altstadt von Bern and Zentrum Paul Klee (Paul Klee Center) make great kid-friendly stops. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Bern: Murren (Allmendhubel & Via Ferrata), Mt Pilatus (in Kriens) and Lauterbrunnen (Staubbach Waterfall, Lauterbrunnen Village, &more). And it doesn't end there: explore the activities along Oeschinen Lake, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Niesen, see the interesting displays at Swiss Brand Museum, and stroll through Grosse Scheidegg.

Zurich to Bern is an approximately 1.5-hour train ride. You can also drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 78°F in August, and nighttime lows around 55°F. You will leave for home on the 10th (Sat).
