Once synonymous with the mysterious and inaccessible Shangri-La, today Kathmandu draws an ever-increasing number of tourists, catering to independent travelers of various budgets.
Get outdoors at Safaris and Skydiving. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Dattatreya Temple and Namo Buddha Temple. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kathmandu: Bhaktapur (55 Window Palace, Changu Narayan, &more) and Thrangu Tashi Monastery (in Dhulikhel).
