Corfu Town, Corfu — 1 night

Often called "Kastropolis" because of its majestic Venetian castle, Corfu Town once featured such extensive fortifications that a force of over 20,000 soldiers defended them.
Start off your visit on the 21st (Fri): pause for some serene contemplation at Church of Saint Spiridon and then make a trip to Spianada Square. On the 22nd (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: admire the landmark architecture of Corfu Museum of Asian Art, explore the historical opulence of New Fortress, then get engrossed in the history at Archaeological Museum of Corfu, and finally explore the historical opulence of Mon Repos Palace.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Corfu Town is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of train and ferry. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Amsterdam to Corfu Town. In January, Corfu Town is a bit warmer than Amsterdam - with highs of 16°C and lows of 5°C. Kalambaka — 2 nights

The gateway to one of the largest monastery complexes in Greece, the small town of Kalambaka nestles against a landscape of imposing rock formations rising 400 m (1,300 ft) into the air. Nearly leveled during World War II, the town rebuilt and reinvented itself in the post-war period, quickly becoming one of the region's major travel destinations.
Start off your visit on the 24th (Mon): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Monastery of the Great Meteoron, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Meteora, and then contemplate the long history of Holy Trinity Monastery (Agia Triada). You can drive from Metsovo to Kalambaka in 1.5 hours. When traveling from Metsovo in January, plan for little chillier days and about the same nights in Kalambaka: temperatures range from 7°C by day to -1°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 25th (Tue) so you can drive to Thessaloniki.
