Kalamata is the second most populous city of the Peloponnese peninsula, after Patras, in southern Greece and the largest city of the homonymous administrative region. Get out of town with these interesting Kalamata side-trips: Metropolitan Church of St. Basil (in Tripoli), Kardamili (Vyros Gorge, The Bead Shop Kardamyli, &more) and Mycenae (Lion Gate & Archaeological Site Mycenae). Mystras or Mistras, also known as Myzithras in the Chronicle of the Morea, is a fortified town and a former municipality in Laconia, Peloponnese, Greece. Start off your visit on the 29th (Tue): contemplate the long history of Archaeological site of Mystra, then see the interesting displays at The Camera Museum – Takis Aivalis, then view the masterpieces at Koumantareios Art Gallery of Sparta, and finally contemplate the long history of Amyklaion and Sanctuary of Apollo. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 30th (Wed): take a memorable drive along Langada Pass, see the interesting displays at Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil, and then pause for some photo ops at Leonidas Monument.
