In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.
Step out of the city life by going to Kailua Beach Park and Scuba & Snorkeling. Your inner history buff will appreciate USS Arizona Memorial and Iolani Palace. Go for a jaunt from Honolulu to Kailua to see Lanikai Beach about 34 minutes away. There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Battleship Missouri Memorial, examine the collection at USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park, and explore the different monuments and memorials at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
