Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.
Visit Fort Zachary Taylor and Higgs Beach for some beach relaxation. Escape the urban bustle at Parasailing & Paragliding and Bahia Honda State Park. Springfield to Key West is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time (CST) to Eastern Standard Time (EST), which is usually a 1 hour difference. Traveling from Springfield in July, Key West is a bit warmer at night with lows of 81°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Wed) to allow time to fly to Gatlinburg.
