Geneva — 2 nights

Geneva brings the world to one small city with a huge expat population and the highest number of international organizations in any one city.
Free Walk Geneva has been added to your itinerary. Start off your visit on the 12th (Sat): squeeze the most out of the city with Free Walk Geneva, admire the striking features of Cathedrale de Saint-Pierre, and then ponder the design of The Geneva Water Fountain.

New York City, USA to Geneva is an approximately 12-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 6 hours traveling from New York City to Geneva. In October, Geneva is a bit cooler than New York City - with highs of 61°F and lows of 46°F. You will have some time to spend on the 14th (Mon) before leaving for Zermatt.

Best known as home the Matterhorn mountain, Zermatt serves as a chic ski resort town of the Swiss Alps.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Gornergrat. There's much more to do: hit the slopes at Zermatt-Matterhorn Ski Paradise, take in the dramatic natural features at Gorner Gorge, fly like a bird with a parasailing or paragliding tour, and explore the activities along Riffelsee.

Drive from Geneva to Zermatt in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 17th (Thu) to allow enough time to take a train to Interlaken.

Interlaken — 3 nights

Nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz in the heart of the Jungfrau region, Interlaken became popular for its proximity to the mountains and lakes of the Bernese Oberland region.
You've now added Skywings Paragliding to your itinerary. There's much more to do: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Jungfraujoch, get great views at Harderkulm, get a new perspective on things with Boat Tours & Water Sports, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Schlosskirche.

Getting from Zermatt to Interlaken by train takes about 3 hours. Other options: drive. In October in Interlaken, expect temperatures between 57°F during the day and 42°F at night. You'll set off for Lucerne on the 20th (Sun).

Side Trip

Lucerne — 2 nights

In north-central Switzerland, Lucerne represents a small city boasting a well-preserved old town.
On the 21st (Mon), take in the views from Chapel Bridge, pause for some photo ops at Lion Monument, and then contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Lucerne. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Astrid-Kapelle and then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Rigi.

You can drive from Interlaken to Lucerne in 1.5 hours. Another option is to take a train. Expect a daytime high around 59°F in October, and nighttime lows around 45°F. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 22nd (Tue) to allow enough time to drive to Zurich.

Zurich — 3 nights

The financial hub of Switzerland, Zurich is most often associated with money and banks.
Change things up with a short trip to Rhine Falls in Neuhausen am Rheinfall (about 42 minutes away). There's much more to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Zurich, pause for some serene contemplation at Grossmunster, get to know the fascinating history of Old Town, and stroll around Lindenhofplatz.

Traveling by car from Lucerne to Zurich takes an hour. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. October in Zurich sees daily highs of 58°F and lows of 45°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 25th (Fri) to allow enough time to fly back home.
