Sheffield — 14 nights

A major industrial and cultural center, Sheffield is renowned for its green open spaces, art galleries, and state-of-the-art sports facilities.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Sheffield: Walker's Nurseries and Garden Centre (in Blaxton), Doncaster (The Vulcan Experience, Doncaster Racecourse and Exhibition Centre, &more) and Cannon Hall Farm (in Cawthorne). There's much more to do: identify plant and animal life at Holly Hagg Community Farm, admire the natural beauty at Sheffield Botanical Gardens, walk around Graves Park, and relax in the rural setting at Our Cow Molly Dairy Farm & Ice Cream Shop.

To see where to stay, other places to visit, and tourist information, go to the Sheffield online trip planner.

Manchester to Sheffield is an approximately 1.5-hour car ride. You can also take a train. In June, plan for daily highs up to 22°C, and evening lows to 11°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 4th (Mon) early enough to go by car back home.

Largely hilly and completely landlocked, South Yorkshire was once known as the industrial heartland of northern England. Having reinvented itself in the last few decades, the region is now noted for exceptional shopping options, family tourist attractions, and a vibrant nightlife. Passionate about music, sports, and art, the locals are always quick to point out that their region contains some of the country’s finest museums and Victorian monuments. When you visit South Yorkshire, be sure not to limit your itinerary to Sheffield, a city famous for its steel industry. Escape the urban crowds on a tour through the region’s lush meadows, rolling hills, and leafy forests, either on foot or by bicycle.
