Honolulu, Oahu — 3 nights

In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.
Get outdoors at Waikiki Beach and Ehukai Beach Park. You'll get in some beach time at Kailua Beach Park and Sunset Beach Park. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Honolulu: Turtle Bay Beach (in Kahuku) and Pupukea (Pu’u O Mahuka Heiau State Monument & Banzai Pipeline). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Kualoa Regional Park.

One of the island of Hawaii's major towns, Hilo contains a mix of Asian and Polynesian cultures and is known for its proximity to a national park encompassing two active volcanoes.
Kick off your visit on the 14th (Wed): take in the dramatic scenery at Rainbow Falls, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Kipuka Puaulu (Bird Park) Trail, and then get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Here are some ideas for day two: take in nature's colorful creations at Liliuokalani Gardens, take a memorable drive along Devastation Trail, then hike along Kilauea Iki Trailhead, and finally stroll through Sulphur Banks.

A vast expanse of pristine wetlands, Everglades National Park holds the distinction of being the largest tropical wilderness in the U.S. Overflow from Lake Okeechobee into the Florida Bay formed these wetlands, which are home to manatees, American crocodiles, Florida panthers, and an array of wading birds, land birds, and birds of prey.
