A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Fitzroy Island Sports Hub + Dive Centre as well as Josephine Falls. Step out of the city life by going to Scuba & Snorkeling and Michaelmas Cay. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Babinda Boulders and Crocodile Express Daintree River Cruises. Step out of Cairns with an excursion to Cathedral Fig Tree in Yungaburra--about 1h 10 min away. If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiport is Cairns International Airport. In May in Cairns, expect temperatures between 82°F during the day and 69°F at night. On the 1st (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Daintree.

Daintree is a settlement in North Queensland 111km north of Cairns and 56km from Port Douglas, Queensland. On the 2nd (Sun), enjoy the sand and surf at Wonga Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 3rd (Mon): engage your brain at Daintree Discovery Centre.

Traveling by car from Cairns to Daintree takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and taxi. In June, daily temperatures in Daintree can reach 79°F, while at night they dip to 65°F. On the 3rd (Mon), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Cape Tribulation.

Cape Tribulation — 2 nights

A lush headland that's part of the forested Daintree Region, Cape Tribulation was so named by Lieutenant--later Captain--Cook in 1770, when his ship ran aground in the area.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Tue): enjoy the sand and surf at Thornton Beach and then browse the exhibits of Floravilla Ice Cream Factory.
