Coles Bay — 9 nights

Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Step off the beaten path and head to Wineglass Bay and Sleepy Bay. Get outdoors at Dolphin & Whale Watching and Freycinet National Park. There's much more to do: kick back and relax at Hazards Beach, don't miss a visit to Mt Amos Climb, stroll through Honeymoon Bay, and look for gifts at Freycinet Marine Farm.

Before you visit Coles Bay, use our trip planner to discover what you can do and see there.

Hobart to Coles Bay is an approximately 2.5-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of bus and taxi. You will leave for home on the 30th (Thu).

On Tasmania’s east coast, Freycinet National Park is a place of wild beauty. Towering pink-hued mountains, known as the Hazards, shadow the landscape, and at their foot are the calm, blue waters of Wineglass Bay. Explore the picturesque Friendly Beaches, dine on an abundance of fresh seafood, and spend the night at one of Australia’s exclusive luxury lodges. Freycinet National Park is roughly 2 1/2 hours drive north from Hobart or two hours drive south from Launceston. If you have time to spare, wind your way here along one of Australia's most dramatic road trips, the Great Eastern Drive.
