Walk among apes and monkeys in a natural forest environment at Apenheul. Opened in 1971, the zoo was the first in the world to house primates in open environments where visitors could interact with them. Now home to more than 30 different primates, including bonobos, gorillas, and orangutans, the facility promotes conservation, as well as love and understanding of primates. Grab a front row seat at a feeding session. The knowledgeable staff member running the show will answer any questions. If you're lucky, a curious monkey might climb on you. Appenheul is a nice monkey resort near Arnhem. You can see 35 different species of monkeys. It is a very nice trip also for families. Because of corona you can not touch monkeys.

This is very nice park which showcases over 30 different apes. The park is well set-up, with good visibility of the monkey's and in some places even the ability to walk among the apes.

A great zoo that makes the impression of a good habitat for the animals (they mostly, but not exclusively keep apes here). You can get really close to the apes in certain areas which is nice, especially for kids or taking photos. You can learn a lot about the animals and there are plenty of food courts and playgrounds for children. A good place to go as a family or if you like zoos in general, definitely one of the better ones i visited!
Apenheul has stayed a very nice park over the years, still expanding and improving their quality. It's a really good atmosphere and the animals look healthy and happy. It's so fun and specially for kids that the monkeys can get so close to you or even touch you. It was also great to see the amount of staff on location which makes it feel safe & appropriate. Will definitely visit it again with my daughter
